The Singapore Polytechnic orientation today wasn't very good to me. I started today playing really stupid, boring and degrading icebreakers and games today. There was this really dumb game which each of us had to choose a body part. Unknown to us, we have to kiss the part we chose of the person beside us. This is an example of a dumb game. Luckily, I chose the eye. I'm in a class of 20 and there are 13 girls and 7 boys. My classmates seem okay to me, perhaps besides the fact that only about 4 of them are Christians. But I did get to know more about my course, Media and Communications, and about Singapore Polytechnic. It seems that my course is delving deeper in business than the creative literary side of media communication. But I was glad to find out that people at Singapore Polytechnic are more friendly and less stuck up. Ngee Ann Polytechnic Mass Communication students are notoriously known for the air they put up, that is besides Silvestre. I was also glad to hear that my course is considered the cream of crop of the school of business. The only thing I am not really pleased with is the way the girls dress and the people talk. One of my orientation group leaders was practically putting her body on exhibition and it really amazed me that she was from Anderson Secondary School too. Another leader liked to use profanities, which just isn't my style anymore. It really irritates me when I hear vulgarities nowadays. Looks like I really need the Holy Spirit to guard my heart and mind. I really pray that I will not conform to the world. Something has been on my mind lately. I have discovered that I really have little respect, reverence and fear for God and His word. I have this habit of quoting bible verses for amusement. It's really funny that all of us fear evil spirits but not the One who is stronger than all of them combined. Sometimes, I feel that we take God's grace and mercy for granted. My worship to God has also been rather half-hearted. I just wish I could go back to the ancient ways of the devout men of God. After all, it is exactly the lack of sincere worship and fear of God that is allowing worldliness to permeate into the Church and our prayers and authority to be weakened. I'm also depending too much on my intellect that sometimes I'm distracted from God's voice and will. Well, for once, I'm absolutely sure that God will change these areas. God bless you guys!
